Hi

I have not been blogging much because I don’t really have much to say on the IF side of things. I am waiting to hear from the RE to see if testing our 5 day frozen blasts is a possibility. I have my doubts so I am fully prepared to continue on with FETs without testing them first. I just need to call on CD1 to get that started (~3 weeks). When I talked to the nurse this week she is a little concerned that I will have to wait until January to proceed because my timing for December might fall when the lab is closed for the week. Just my luck.

Have you guys heard the latest with Giuliana Rancic? She and her husband Bill are IF advocates and are public with their story. The last season left off with them heading back to the RE for IVF #3. While we were in NYC I saw a commercial for Good Morning America showing she would be on with a big announcement. I looked at hubby and told him that she was going to announce their pregnancy. Boy was I wrong. She announced that she has breast cancer and they found it because the RE made her get a mammogram before proceeding with retrieval for IVF#3. I was totally shocked and started to cry for her. They still proceeded with the retrieval then last week she had a double lumpectomy and will have 6 weeks of radiation. Needless to say I am now scheduled for a mammogram in December. My hubby and I always talk about all these hormones and what effects they are having on me and now this story scared us a bit. I have no idea if Julianne’s issues are related but why not let her story help us and all go get a mammogram.
The latest on Giuliana's story

  1. That would be great if you can do the testing, but if you can't, then move forward with faith my friend. I will keep you in my prayers. I certainly hope you don't have to wait until January!!

I did hear about Giuliana's story. I'm so glad they are public with their story. Sometimes we wonder why God has given us the trial of IF, and in her case, it's kind of a blessing in disguise. I'm so glad they were able to catch it early on!

I also have a fear about all the hormones related to IF and the long term effects! Scary!

  2. I have followed her story and watched her shows and was so sad to hear her latest news. My mom had breast cancer so I am definitely an advocate of getting mammograms early! I hope everything works out for your cycle to happen in December, but if not, January for sure!

I heard about Giuliana's story, too, and it really is amazing. I'm glad you're scheduled for a mammogram!

  5. I have watched every season of Giulianna and Bill and have been waiting and waiting for her announce she is pregnant again. I heard the bad news last week about her breast cancer and heard her say the doctors recommend patients wait 2 years to start trying again. Just isn't fair, but glad they caught the cancer early.

  6. I've never watched the show, but read about it a lot on the forums/blogs. I'm glad they're so open about everything, but sad for them for everything they're going through.

Thinking of you, hoping that your RE can do the testing on them and things can progress on the FET.

  7. I actually work for a close relative of GR and BR. I was devastated when I heard the news. Of course, I also missed my scheduled mammogram this year-forgot I had scheduled it last year. Hoping the best for her-so sad.

Hope you are doing well and enjoying your time off from the fertility stuff!

  8. The lab closes for a week?!? Is it just me, or does that sound crazy. It seems like about a quarter of the people would need services during that week...

  9. I have never watched the show but have heard many people talk about it. My heart hurts for her. I also wonder what are the effects of all of the drugs down the road. I'm hoping January is the month for you!
