Vacations

Whoo Hoo - It’s finalized – we will spend Gavin’s due date in NYC! We are so excited to spend a week there. Hubby has never been to NYC and I was little last time I was there. We are going for 8 nights and have a long list of things to do and see! It’s been helpful to have something to plan and to look forward to. It keeps my mind from wondering too far.

I know that October is going to be a hard month for me so going on vacation will be a good excuse to get out of most everything that month. I already had a friend tell me to save the first weekend in October for her baby shower. Really…she is not due until mid January so I was surprised her shower is in October. I am going to have to decline. I would probably go if it was during any other month…just not two weeks before Gavin’s due date. I hope she understands. I just had to hide her on FB…her pregnancy posts were just too much to handle.

This weekend we are having a staycation with the family at a local resort! I am really looking forward to it. The resort has a wave pool, water slides, swim up bar, and a lazy river! I plan on getting a nice tan and spending some quality time with my parents, sisters/brother and all my nieces and nephews! Now I just need to find a swim suit that fits me!

  1. A vacation is a great idea - you will need to be away and doing something that will help to keep your mind occupied. Hope you have a good time planning the fun stuff you will do!

  2. Yay, for vacation plans! NYC in the fall will be pretty.

I think your friend will understand about the shower. I totally would 'hide' her on FB too.

Enjoy your staycation with your family. It will be nice to kick back with your fam. :)

  3. If your friend doesn't understand, then I don't think they're a very good friend (*hugs*) I hope the trip is nice. I agree about it being a great idea, as I'm sure I already said. Enjoy it, and the time away.

  7. I <3 staycation weekends! I know, I know, the big NYC week is going to be awesome too, but I have had a lot of staycation weekends lately and it felt like heaven....although going to work on those Mondays was rough. :)

Good to hear that you are taking care of yourself and respecting your limits - I've already warned everyone I know (after the first disastrous attempt) that I will buy presents, take people out to brunch, come over for tea, whatever I can...but I will not be attending baby showers. That is apparently my tipping point, so I'm just a no-go on those. So far, everyone has been completely understanding and I don't think I've made anyone angry.

  14. I think I totally take it for granted that I live in NYC. Have always wanted to vacation in Arizona. We should do a house swap! Hope the trip is fun, relaxing and most of all, distracting. Xoxo.

  15. Hope you have a great break and that you can hold on to that excitement about NYC. I think it's very sensible to be aware of what is and isn't good for you to handle at the moment regarding other people's pregnancies. Oh and you have some sympathy on the swimsuit front, a minefield of discomfort.
