I have a plan and it feels good!

So NYE was lots of fun and we probably had one too many cocktails…but we were saying goodbye to a crappy 2010 and welcoming 2011 with open arms. It has to be better than the past two years. We are starting the year off jumping into IVF. My CD1 was December 29 so I started BCP then. I will be on the Flare protocol for this IVF. That is different than my first IVF which was the Antagonist protocol. Change is good right?

Here is my timeline…

Stop BCPs the 9th, US on the 10th, start Lupron on the 13th and Follistim on the 15th. With retrieval the week of the 24th. Typing this out, I just got really excited!

So anyone with experience on Lupron- bring on the stories of the horrid side effects! I hope they are not too bad. I guess I should set up my acupuncture appointments to help with the side effects.

So, I say goodbye to alcohol, caffeine and all the other bad stuff and start popping pills! The RE did say that I can continue working out until I start stims. I really need to drop a couple lbs…

  1. I'm not sure what your exact Lupron dosage is, but with mine the only negative thing that I had was headaches. And they weren't unbearable. Hope this is THE cycle for you! Good luck!

  2. Hi Jennifer-
I am stopping by your blog today and I did not want to be shy.
It looks like you have been through a lot. Hopefully, this IVF cycle will be the one :)

  3. Exciting times. Yep, just headaches for me and they weren't unbearable. But I did also deal with moments of total brain freezes - like, what was that word I was just going to say, what was I in the middle of, is something burning? kind of freezes. Not sure if I can blame that on the lupron or just nerves. Good luck and happy new year!

  5. Good luck. I also had lupron headaches; I also had occasional feelings of rage, but that could have been for any number of reasons!

I'm trying to go swimming every day before transfer and shift those festive pounds!

  6. Lupron gave me headaches in a big way! And, you can't take anything, but Tylenol for them, and Tylenol does nothing for me. But, it's a small price to pay and you don't stay on those injections for long. Good luck with your cycle. What fun!!!! :)

  10. I've been on 20 units of Lupron per day since Christmas Day and all I had was itching at the injection site and some insomnia with night sweats. Nothing you can't handle, for sure!

I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for your IVF cycle!

  11. I did the flare protocol for my last IVF cycle and didn't have any issues with the lupron.

Agh! I can't believe that we'll be going through IVF around the same time. I'm so hoping that this is it for both of us!!

  15. woohoo for a plan!!!

what's your lupron dosage? when i was on 20 units (reduced to 10 when i started stims) with RE#1, i had lots of side effects - headaches and hot flashes mostly. with RE#2 i was on 10 units (reduced to 5 when i started stims) with no major side effects.

    good luck!
