Happy Anniversary (Not the Good Kind)

Usually anniversaries are spent with gifts and remembering the good times. Not this one. I am not going to give it any satisfaction. I might drink but not in celebration of this Anniversary.

September marks FOUR (yes…four) years of TTC for us. This statement brings tears to my eyes. It’s been a rough four years. I won’t rehash it here…you can see everything on the side bar.

During September four years ago my Hubby and I were out for a weekend breakfast at Village Inn and he told me with a smile on his face to stop taking my BCPs (we had talked about it previously but he wasn’t ready). I was giddy – so excited I couldn’t believe that after a year of marriage we were ready for children. How naive – I was worried about getting pregnant the first month and was a little scared. Well we all know that it has not worked out how I dreamed.

Now all I can do I look forward and hope not to celebrate the five or six year anniversary of TTC.

  1. i have my fingers crossed for you that this is your year. no, we will not be anniversary-ing a 5th year for you!! did you guys get all your immune testing done like you had mentioned? curious to know how that came out. i'm hopeful for you that since you produced great embryos once, it'll happen again with ivf. do you read venting vagina's blog? she did a fresh cycle and and 3 fet's (putting back 1, 2 and then 4) embies each time and no bfp yet. she's getting a bunch of immune testing done with a new RE bc there's no other explanation for nothing has stuck yet ... you guys might be a good resource for eachother :o)

  4. Oh how I hate this kind of anniversary, my 5-er is just around the corner and I dread it. I hope you don't see another one. Do something nice for yourselves today to trick the universe out...

  5. Uggh, I'm so sorry. Four years...that would be an unbearable amount of heartbreak even if you hadn't had those losses. With the losses on top, it's just unbelievable. You are clearly really strong to still be going, and I hope things change for you guys very soon.

  6. Boo -- I'm approaching our year four anniversary as well and I honestly wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy.

I really hope you and I won't be IVF buddies in early 2011. :)

  10. Big hugs!!

I remember when we hit 4 years ttc. And then 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and where we now find ourselves rapidly approaching our 11th year of ttc.

    Arrrrgh!

I TRULY hope that you don't hit that 5th year anniversary or when you do you're either holding a bub in your arms or in your tum!

    xx

  11. It took us 5 years to get our miracle pregnancy (one that is healthy and on track) So I hope this will be your year....I promise when it does happen it will wash away all the pain and sorrow you are feeling...However you will never forget or leave behind those who are still on the path but instead encourage and support them as you know their pain....Take care:O

  14. thanks for your comment on my blog (and thanks to sienna for connecting you to me!). i've been following you, but i'm not sure if i've ever commented. i wish our situations weren't so similar. i'm meeting with my new RE tomorrow and will have more detail on what immunologic and genetics testing i'm having done then. i'll be sure to update my blog, but i'll also send you the list i'm going to ask him about.

good luck, jennifer! i'm with sienna - there will be no 5th anniversary for you! i hope this is y(our) year! december will mark 3 years for us (and my due date if i hadn't miscarried), so i'm crossing everything possible that BFPs are in our future!

  15. Just popping over from LFCA - anniversaries of this kind suck! I'm closing in on the three year mark without a single pregnancy up my sleeve - ugh! So sorry to hear about your two m/c's too, how heartbreaking. Wishing you all the best for this year and NOT getting to that 5th year mark!

  16. Here from LFCA- so sorry for this unwelcome anniversary. We're creeping up on our 4 year anniversary of trying to conceive as well, having had 3 m/c's along the way... it's a very bitter ride. Looking at your sidebar, I can tell it has been extremely rough for you as well, and I am so very sorry (*HUGS*) to you.

  17. Anniversaries of this nature SUCK.

However, there is hope: Mr Oro and myself became parents via IVF after 8 1/2 years - the Chieftain just turned 2 1/2. And there are others, Emily who no longer blogs, who gave birth to her daughter after 10+ years, Millie who finally - finally! - adopted her wonderful daughter after nearly as long, and so many others who are too numerous to count.

It's a sucky anniversary, but hopefully the next one will pass without you even noticing because there'll be a new wee person in your lives.

  18. Here from LFCA. I'm sorry your journey has been so long. My journey has been long, too, and sometimes it seems surreal. I hope your dreams for a family come true, and very, very soon.

  21. Hey there! I found your blog through Stirrup Queen! I'm so sorry to hear that the dreaded 4 year damniversary is coming up. This February, my hubby and I (**hopefully won't**) be hitting the 3 year damniversary, so I feel your pain! :-/ ((hugs))
